Staying Home and Healthy

Speakers:

About this Session:

Aging at home rather than in an institutional setting is the ideal for most people. Long-term care support and home care services are helping realize this goal for seniors to remain in familiar surroundings as they age. However, there is a big question mark around if our existing infrastructure is adequately prepared to handle the rapidly increasing population of seniors with a diverse set of needs opting for home-based care. Innovative care models are emerging, focusing on keeping seniors healthy and independent in their own homes. Government policies, such as the recent establishment of minimum staffing requirements for nursing homes and expenditure mandates for home care agencies, aim to improve the quality of care provided to seniors across different settings. Fall prevention remains a critical aspect of senior care, with initiatives focusing on reducing injuries and enhancing the overall quality of life through home modifications, exercise programs, and healthcare interventions. Meet leaders pushing progress forward in all areas to support aging in place and promote healthy aging for seniors.
