The Longevity Debate

Speakers:

About this Session:

The field of longevity and healthy aging covers a wide spectrum of schools of thought around how we can age healthily into our 100s. On the lighter scale of the spectrum, one approach focuses on the role of positive attitudes towards aging, which have been linked to longer, healthier lives by promoting better health behaviors and reducing risks of chronic conditions. Moving further along the spectrum, where more proactive interventions are recommended, longevity leaders are emphasizing the importance of understanding the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to exceptional longevity, aiming to extend the healthspan rather than just the lifespan. And further along, other leaders recommend tracking your vitals monthly, weekly or even daily through biometric data, blood draws, body scans and more - heeding disease by beating it to the theoretical punch. Despite the differences, enhancing healthy aging for diverse populations is the shared goal worth debating over.
