Akido Labs Secures $60M to Expand AI-Powered ScopeAI and Tackle Physician Shortage

Akido Labs, Inc., an AI-powered healthcare company focused on transforming care delivery, has raised $60 million in Series B funding led by Oak HC/FT, with participation from Greco, SNR, and existing backers including Y Combinator, Future Communities Capital, Jeff Dean (Chief Scientist at Google DeepMind & Google Research), and the Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center. The investment will accelerate the expansion of Akido’s proprietary ScopeAI platform and its broader mission to make high-quality healthcare more accessible and efficient.

Akido’s ScopeAI system addresses a critical issue in global healthcare: the growing gap between the demand for medical care and the limited number of available physicians. In the U.S. alone, over 3 billion doctor visits are needed each year, but current capacity allows for only about 825 million, resulting in long waits, rushed care, and worsening health outcomes. ScopeAI was developed to confront this challenge by embedding advanced medical intelligence into clinical workflows, enabling healthcare teams to significantly scale patient care without sacrificing quality.

During a ScopeAI-assisted visit, a trained medical assistant uses the platform to guide patient interactions, asking context-aware questions and capturing detailed clinical information. The AI system generates comprehensive documentation in real-time, including a preliminary diagnosis, a proposed treatment plan, and a transparent decision-making log. This allows supervising physicians to oversee multiple visits efficiently, focusing their attention on complex cases while ensuring high-quality, consistent care across the board.

ScopeAI has already demonstrated strong impact, increasing patient face time fivefold and achieving a 96 Net Promoter Score, reflecting high satisfaction. The new funding will support the platform’s further development and deployment across Akido Care—a medical network of nearly 100 clinics, 240 providers, and 26 specialties—and help launch new programs, such as a first-of-its-kind chronic care initiative for rideshare and for-hire drivers in New York City. Through this expansion, Akido aims to continue its mission of democratizing healthcare by using AI to bridge the physician gap and deliver equitable, high-quality care at scale.
