Carrot Fertility, the leading global family care platform, has announced the launch of Sprints, a new program designed to address metabolic dysfunction as a root cause of fertility challenges. The clinically-backed program targets conditions including obesity, blood sugar dysregulation, and sperm damage that impact both natural conception and IVF success rates.
The Sprints program represents a shift from traditional one-size-fits-all fertility approaches by focusing on metabolic health during what Carrot calls the "Premester" period – the 3 to 12 months before a positive pregnancy test. By addressing these underlying health issues, the program aims to help members either avoid IVF entirely or reduce the number of cycles needed, potentially saving plan sponsors up to $30,000 for each cycle avoided while reducing physical and emotional stress for patients.
"IVF is critical in fertility care, but it's not the only answer. One-size-fits-all strategies built on misaligned incentives simply don't work," said Dr. Asima Ahmad, Carrot's Chief Medical Officer. "Sprints is about addressing root causes of fertility challenges, like metabolic issues, either alongside or instead of surgical interventions – creating wins for members, customers, and providers alike."
Current data from Carrot shows promising results for this approach, with nearly 60 percent of engaged members choosing less expensive and invasive fertility interventions before IVF, and 30 percent successfully achieving pregnancy without IVF. The Sprints program builds on these outcomes by providing more comprehensive support through several key components: a pre-conception habit-building program with daily coaching for nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress; hyper-personalized app experiences tailored to individual health concerns and fertility goals; clinically managed access to fertility-supporting medications including metformin and GLP-1s; and seamless integration with existing Carrot care journeys and support systems.
The program will launch in November 2025 for existing and select new Carrot customers, with broad availability beginning in January 2026. Members will receive a Welcome Kit with smart-scale integration and can invite partners to participate in the program together.
"Accelerating access to IVF has never been more important, but avoiding unnecessary procedures when possible is what savvy employers, health plans, and plan sponsors now demand," said Tammy Sun, Carrot Founder and CEO. "With Sprints, we're committed to leading innovation and delivering even more financial ROI through hyper-personalized, optimized care that puts members first."
