Epicore Biosystems, a pioneer in digital health solutions focusing on advanced sweat-sensing wearables, has announced a $6 million addition to its Series B funding round. This latest investment brings the company's total Series B raise to $32 million, with support coming from a new San Francisco-based investor and notable angel investors, alongside continued backing from existing investors Alumni Ventures and Joyance Partners.
The additional capital builds upon Epicore's initial $26 million Series B round, which was led by the Steele Foundation for Hope. This combined funding positions the company to accelerate its global expansion strategy and scale its innovative sweat-sensing technologies that provide real-time physiological insights.
Epicore's wearable technology platform non-invasively measures sweat composition and fluid losses in real-time, while simultaneously tracking key physiological markers including skin temperature, motion, and thermal flux. These measurements enable early detection of critical health indicators such as fatigue, heat exhaustion, and performance levels.
The company's flagship offering, Connected Hydration, represents a breakthrough in personalized health monitoring. It stands as the first smart wearable solution capable of capturing novel hydration data streams while delivering immediate haptic alerts that guide users through customized hydration protocols. This proactive approach enables wearers to effectively manage cognitive and physical recovery needs. The technology's impact has been documented for both industrial workers and athletes, including a recent publication in Nature Digital Medicine and implementations at major events like the 2025 Super Bowl.
"Connected Hydration seamlessly captures multiple sweat and physiology biomarkers, and provides real-time haptic feedback, allowing the wearer to manage their hydration, fatigue, and recovery needs," said Dr. Roozbeh Ghaffari, CEO and co-founder of Epicore Biosystems. "We're thrilled to have mission-driven investors onboard who recognize both the value of new data streams and the utility of biosensor technologies to transform safety, well-being and productivity."
Epicore has developed a diverse portfolio of sweat-sensing solutions tailored to various applications. Beyond Connected Hydration for industrial workers, the company offers the Gx Sweat Patch®, commercialized in partnership with PepsiCo and Gatorade for athlete hydration management, and the Discovery Patch® Sweat Collection System, an FDA Class I registered device utilized in clinical trials.
With this fresh capital infusion, Epicore plans to pursue several strategic growth initiatives, including geographic expansion into industrial markets across Australia, the Middle East, and Asia; scaling its real-time cloud analytics platform; and researching new biomarker applications beyond hydration, such as kidney health and stress management.
The company has established impressive market traction through partnerships with major corporations, including Chevron, PepsiCo, Gatorade, United Airlines, Bechtel, Denka, and Nitto, as well as various branches of the U.S. military. Epicore's solutions are currently deployed across diverse sectors ranging from energy and construction to manufacturing, aviation, and shipping.
