Johnson & Johnson Partners With AWS, NVIDIA to Fund AI Surgical Tech

Johnson & Johnson MedTech has launched the Polyphonic AI Fund for Surgery in collaboration with partners including NVIDIA and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The fund aims to advance AI-powered surgical innovation by investing in projects focused on AI model development, governance, and data engineering.

To initiate the effort, the fund will leverage J&J’s QuickFire Challenge, a crowdsourcing platform, to collect applications from startups, researchers, academic and non-academic institutions, and established companies. Selected participants will receive financial support, mentorship, and access to technical resources such as developer workshops and tools from Johnson & Johnson MedTech, NVIDIA, and AWS. Awardees will be chosen by representatives from all three companies.

Running through 2026, the program will offer grant funding and access to computing tools, tech stacks, and compliant datasets provided by Johnson & Johnson MedTech and its partner network.

This initiative builds on a prior collaboration between J&J MedTech and NVIDIA, announced last year, which aimed to enhance surgical data analysis through the Polyphonic Digital Ecosystem. That partnership focused on accelerating AI innovation for surgical technologies, improving operating room efficiency, supporting surgical training, protecting data privacy, and automating surgical data enrichment.
