Philips Expands Cloud-Based Radiology Informatics to Europe While Exploring Generative AI Applications

Philips, a global health technology leader, has announced the European expansion of its cloud-based radiology informatics solutions following successful deployment across more than 150 sites throughout North and Latin America. The expansion brings Philips' HealthSuite Imaging platform, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), to European healthcare providers as part of the company's strategic growth in cloud-native medical imaging solutions.

HealthSuite Imaging, offered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, delivers a comprehensive suite of tools designed to transform radiology department operations. The cloud-native platform provides enhanced security through regular security patches, upgrades, and compliance checks that ensure both data protection and regulatory compliance across different jurisdictions.

The solution significantly improves accessibility for healthcare professionals, enabling secure access to imaging studies, AI-enabled workflows, and reporting tools from any location with internet connectivity. This flexibility supports the increasing demand for remote work capabilities in healthcare settings.

Healthcare organizations implementing the platform can expect increased operational efficiency through streamlined workflows for scheduling, diagnosis, and reporting processes. These improvements reduce administrative burden while enhancing productivity in radiology departments that often face staffing challenges.

A key advantage of the cloud-based approach is scalability, allowing healthcare organizations to adapt their imaging infrastructure as needs evolve without significant capital investments in on-premises hardware or software.

Alongside this expansion, Philips is actively exploring generative AI applications to further enhance its radiology solutions. The company's AI development focuses on two key areas: conversational reporting to automate report generation and reduce administrative tasks for radiologists, and clinical decision support that provides diagnostic insights and treatment recommendations.

"The availability of Philips' cloud-based radiology solutions in Europe will be a game changer for healthcare providers, helping them to manage staff shortages, optimize workflows and drive better outcomes," said Shez Partovi, Business Leader Enterprise Informatics at Philips. "The scalability and security of enterprise imaging in the cloud will enable radiology departments to benefit from the transformative power of generative AI and allow clinicians to focus on the most important aspect, bringing better care to more people."

This expansion represents Philips' commitment to addressing healthcare workforce challenges through technology while positioning the company to incorporate advanced AI capabilities into its medical imaging ecosystem.
