ŌURA, creator of the leading smart ring, has significantly expanded its health tracking capabilities with two new AI-driven metabolic health features: Meals and Glucose. These additions integrate meal insights with continuous glucose monitoring data from Stelo by Dexcom to provide users with personalized, actionable guidance on their metabolic health.
The launch comes at a critical time when metabolic health conditions like Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and obesity are rising globally, affecting hundreds of millions of people. Poor metabolic health is linked to increased risks of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and kidney disease, while also manifesting in daily symptoms such as fatigue and brain fog.
"Our product roadmap for this year is built on a robust investment in AI-forward offerings that enable a deeper understanding of the dynamic interplay of key health factors," said Holly Shelton, Chief Product Officer at ŌURA. "Our bodies all process food in different ways, which is why we're leveraging a unique combination of ŌURA's extensive biometric tracking, generative AI, and Stelo glucose data to address a critical need for more individualized and accessible metabolic health solutions."
After successful testing in Oura Labs, the "Meals" feature becomes a permanent addition to the Oura App. Users can take a picture of their food, and the AI-powered system provides food recognition and nutrition analysis that goes beyond simple calorie counting. The feature emphasizes macronutrients, helping users understand the connection between dietary choices and overall health.
The system includes Oura Advisor, which offers guidance on nutritional choices to help users build nutrient-dense meals and avoid energy slumps. A "Nutrition Breakdown" component provides a summary of key elements like protein, fiber, processing level, added sugars, total fats, and total carbs.
Through a strategic partnership with Dexcom, Oura members can now purchase a Stelo glucose biosensor directly from ouraring.com for $99. Stelo is the first FDA-cleared glucose biosensor available without a prescription in the U.S. The small device worn on the back of the upper arm reveals how lifestyle factors affect glucose levels.
"By integrating with ÕURA, we're bringing the first glucose biosensor and smart ring integration to the market, providing a one-of-a-kind and personalized metabolic health experience," said Jake Leach, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Dexcom.
The "Glucose" feature in the Oura App displays daily glucose readings alongside meal, sleep, stress, and activity data. It includes contextual graphs and insights from Oura Advisor to help users understand various factors affecting their glucose levels. A new metric, "Time Above Range," tracks how long glucose stays above the target range.
Both new features will be available at launch on iOS and Android for Oura members in the United States, with Meals planned for international release later this year. Oura Advisor intelligence will be progressively released across additional features in the coming months.
