MUSC Expands Virtual Care in Schools with TytoCare Partnership
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is enhancing its virtual care technology in school health clinics through a partnership with TytoCare, a leader in telehealth solutions. This initiative will see TytoCare’s Pro Smart Clinic devices installed in 150 schools across the Charleston region, replacing older telehealth carts and significantly upgrading the capability of on-site health services. The Pro Smart Clinic offers a broader range of medical exams, enabling more comprehensive virtual care within the school environment.
The Pro Smart Clinic allows healthcare providers to remotely perform essential medical evaluations, such as heart and lung assessments with AI-driven wheeze detection, throat and ear exams, and temperature checks. By equipping schools with this advanced technology, MUSC aims to reduce the need for students to leave school for in-office doctor visits, thereby minimizing disruptions to their education and alleviating the time and resource demands on parents.
This expansion is part of a broader effort by TytoCare, which has partnered with over 70 health systems across 31 states to bring virtual care to more than 2,500 schools. Through this collaboration with MUSC and other healthcare providers, the Pro Smart Clinic is helping to decrease the reliance on urgent care and emergency visits, ensuring that students can receive timely and accurate medical care directly within their school, promoting both their health and educational success.
