Brellium Raises $16.7M to Power AI-Driven Compliance for Healthcare

Brellium, an AI-powered clinical and payor compliance platform designed to help healthcare organizations streamline chart audits and reduce clinical risk, has raised $16.7M in Series A funding. The round was led by First Round Capital, Left Lane Capital, and Menlo Ventures, with participation from Digital Health Venture Partners and Necessary Ventures. The funding will support team growth, product development, and broader adoption in healthcare sectors such as mental health, weight loss, autism, and hospice care.

Accurate and thorough documentation is vital in healthcare to ensure proper reimbursement for services and appropriate patient care. Inadequate documentation can lead to severe consequences, including prepayment reviews, insurance clawbacks, misdiagnoses, inadequate treatment, and poor patient outcomes. The co-founder of Brellium’s personal experience with a medical misdiagnosis highlighted the critical issue of documentation oversights, which can trigger a cascade of negative effects for both patients and providers. This led to the founding of Brellium, with the goal of offering providers tools to deliver clinically accurate and compliant care, ultimately improving patient recovery and reducing systemic failures.

Brellium’s platform is a proactive, AI-powered solution that audits every patient visit to ensure it meets payor and clinical quality standards, minimizing manual workload for clinical teams. Unlike traditional spot-checks, Brellium identifies potential compliance risks early and provides clear instructions for correcting charts. The platform also offers a financial guarantee, covering the cost of any payor clawback on a Brellium-approved chart.

Brellium helps correct a variety of critical documentation issues, including copy-pasted provider notes, contraindicated prescriptions, session length discrepancies with billing, and changes in patient condition over time. The platform has been adopted by leading healthcare organizations like Grow Therapy, Rula, Headspace, Hopebridge, Lightfully Behavioral Health, and Talkiatry. To date, Brellium has audited millions of charts, providing valuable insights into payor expectations and documentation standards.
