Kandu Health, Inc. and Neurolutions, Inc. have merged to form Kandu, Inc., a company aiming to transform stroke recovery through a first-of-its-kind, end-to-end solution that combines brain-computer interface (BCI) technology with personalized telehealth services. The merger also included the first close of a $30 million financing round co-led by Ally Bridge Group and AMED Ventures, which will support the ongoing commercialization and mission to make stroke recovery more accessible at home.
Led by CEO Leo Petrossian, formerly of Neurolutions, the new Kandu, Inc. unites Neurolutions’ FDA-cleared IpsiHand® BCI device with Kandu Health’s digital health platform, which delivers remote, multidisciplinary care through licensed clinicians and an easy-to-use app. This combination allows Kandu, Inc. to offer a seamless continuum of care—from the immediate post-acute phase through long-term rehabilitation—empowering patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers with services including telehealth rehab, therapy monitoring, education, caregiver support, and clinical navigation.
Founded in 2022, Kandu Health has demonstrated lower hospital readmission rates and improved outcomes for at-home stroke recovery. Neurolutions, established in 2007, pioneered non-invasive BCI therapy for stroke rehabilitation. Together, they aim to fill gaps in the traditionally fragmented post-acute stroke care system, which often leaves survivors and caregivers struggling to navigate complex care pathways. Nearly 28% of stroke survivors report poor quality of life a year post-stroke, a challenge Kandu, Inc. hopes to address through its integrated model.
The company's proprietary data and AI solutions are also being developed to support better clinical outcomes and workforce efficiency. Clinical evidence from Kandu Health shows more than 80% of patients achieved independent living within 90 days, with 57% improving on the Modified Rankin Scale. IpsiHand studies further show 70% of chronic stroke patients improved upper extremity function, with measurable gains on the Arm Motor Ability Test and Fugl-Meyer Assessment. Kandu, Inc. plans to continue advancing stroke recovery through innovation, evidence-based care, and a commitment to improving quality of life for stroke survivors.
