Hybrid weight-inclusive primary and metabolic care provider knownwell has announced its inclusion as a care provider on pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly's digital healthcare platform LillyDirect.
The Boston-based company, which operates physical locations in Texas, Chicago, and Massachusetts, will now offer its metabolic healthcare services virtually to patients nationwide through the LillyDirect platform.
Launched in January 2024, LillyDirect provides patients with access to healthcare providers specializing in diabetes, obesity, sleep apnea, migraines, and cognitive issues. The platform combines virtual and in-person care options across all 50 states, along with educational resources and a digital pharmacy for select Lilly medications.
"Now, knownwell's team of highly trained obesity experts can treat patients virtually in all 50 states, creating comprehensive care plans tailored to the individual's needs," Brooke Boyarsky Pratt, CEO and cofounder of knownwell, told MobiHealthNews in an email.
"These plans may include dietitian counseling, health coaching and anti-obesity medications. For individuals who may believe high-quality care is out of reach, we hope the opportunity to work seamlessly with knownwell clinicians within an insurance paradigm will make it easier for them to start and/or continue on their obesity care journey and improve their long-term, whole-person health."
This partnership follows knownwell's recent expansion into six brick-and-mortar clinics throughout the greater Chicago area, which included adding 23 regional employees and appointing Dr. Anthony Auriemma as their first market medical director and vice president of clinical partnerships. Dr. Auriemma previously served as medical director at Ascension Medical Group Illinois Weight Loss Solutions.
In 2023, knownwell acquired AI-enabled precision metabolic-health management company Alfie Health to enhance its clinical decision-support capabilities. Alfie's ObesityRx platform, which analyzes medical histories to determine optimal metabolic health treatments, was integrated into knownwell's care model following the acquisition.
knownwell launched in 2023 with $4.5 million in seed funding and later secured $20 million in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) Bio + Health.
