Population health management company Percipio Health has launched its AI-driven platform following a $20M Series A funding round led by UPMC Enterprises, WAVE Ventures, and Labcorp. The platform represents a significant advancement in accessible healthcare monitoring by leveraging standard smartphone technology rather than specialized medical devices.
The system, developed over two years, transforms smartphones into comprehensive health monitoring tools through a single mobile application. It captures various health signals including vital signs and medication adherence through the device's camera, while vocal AI technology assesses brain health and cognitive function. The platform also tracks activity levels and sleep patterns to create a complete picture of patient health.
By providing healthcare providers and payers with a unified data source, Percipio's platform aims to enhance value-based care delivery and population health management. The technology enables real-time health assessments and generates predictive insights through its clinical portal, supporting earlier diagnosis and informed care decisions.
The company's leadership brings substantial industry experience to the venture. Co-founders Eric Rock and David Lucas previously established Vivify Health, later acquired by Optum, and MEDHOST, an emergency department medical records solution.
"After two years of intensive R&D, we are thrilled to unveil Percipio Health, breaking through the high-cost barriers that have prevented remote patient monitoring from reaching broader populations," said Eric Rock, co-founder and CEO of Percipio Health. "With our advanced AI health signals, we deliver instant health risk assessments, proactive health monitoring, and comprehensive virtual care at scale."
The platform's device-free approach addresses a crucial barrier in remote patient monitoring by eliminating the need for specialized equipment. This strategy positions Percipio to potentially expand access to health monitoring services across diverse patient populations while supporting healthcare providers in their transition to value-based care models.
