UiPath, a leader in enterprise automation and AI software, has unveiled its new generative AI-based Medical Record Summarization agent at Google Cloud Next 2025. Currently in private preview, the solution is powered by Google Cloud's Vertex AI and Gemini models, designed to transform how healthcare payer and provider organizations handle medical documents.
Developed in collaboration with clinical professionals, the agent leverages Google Gemini 2.0 Flash through Vertex AI to deliver more efficient and accurate medical record analysis. The technology represents part of UiPath's broader strategy to develop vertical AI solutions tailored to specific industry requirements.
The agent was built with UiPath Agent Builder and offers clinician-level, multi-point summarization of extensive medical records. This process traditionally takes medical professionals approximately 45 minutes but can now be completed in just minutes, while also reducing costs and improving quality compared to manual data entry.
For healthcare organizations, the solution delivers several key efficiency improvements:
Reduces time and effort spent on manual summarization, leading to cost savings, decreased rework, and improved revenue opportunities
Significantly decreases time spent on tasks like patient referral intake, with potential time savings of up to 40 minutes per referral and reduction in prior authorization turnaround time by up to 50%
Ensures consistent, high-quality medical summaries with standardized sections and traceable data
Provides structured summaries that enable clinicians and coordinators to make faster, more confident decisions
"Chief Medical Officers, Chief Financial Officers, and CIOs at healthcare organizations are consistently under pressure to reduce costs and improve quality of care while dealing with people resource constraints. Currently, clinical and non-clinical staff must summarize large volumes of medical records, yet medical records lack standard formats and summaries meaning they vary in quality and standardization," said Mark Geene, senior vice president of AI Products at UiPath. "By automating and streamlining summary creation with Google Cloud, UiPath enables healthcare organizations to save clinical review time and improve accuracy, generating significant annual value in time savings and cost avoidance."
The solution is already showing real-world impact, with a major healthcare payer reporting a 23% improvement in document processing speed and accuracy after deployment. The agent delivers clinician-level summaries organized into user-friendly segments with traceable citations, employs state-of-the-art retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for processing unstructured data, and reduces administrative burdens for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
UiPath is available on the Google Cloud Marketplace, allowing Google Cloud customers to purchase the UiPath Platform and deploy automation initiatives on Google Cloud infrastructure.
