Employer's Crucial Role in Mental & Behavioral Health

April Koh is the CEO and Co-founder of Spring Health, a comprehensive mental health benefit for employers. April believes mental healthcare is going to look radically different in the next 5-10 years: instead of being a guessing game of trial-and-error, mental healthcare will be precisely and accurately tailored to each individual through data. She started Spring Health because she wanted to build that future — where the hopelessness of guessing is replaced with the hope of data-driven, accurate care. In 2021, Daryl joined leading mental health and brain research nonprofit One Mind as Executive Vice President, overseeing the One Mind at Work programs and contributing to One Mind’s vision and objectives. Tol brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership, as well as personal, lived experience of mental health struggles. During his 20-year tenure at AdventHealth, Tol held executive leadership roles across the health system’s regional divisions. Most recently, he served for six years as the President/CEO of its $6 billion, 16 hospital Central Florida Division. In this position, Tol built a transformational strategy focused on consumer-centered connected care. Tol also led the development of the national company’s consumer technology and analytics products, grew the Central Florida Division through the acquisition of two hospital facilities, ownership in a neighboring four-hospital health system, and the opening of dozens of additional care sites. From 2010 – 2015, Tol was President/CEO of AdventHealth East Florida Region. At the helm of this $700 million, six hospital region, he developed an ecosystem approach to regional leadership and drove the acquisition of the sixth hospital.Before that, Tol served as President/CEO of AdventHealth DeLand from 2006 – 2010. As Chief Executive of this 156-bed community hospital, he built cancer, cardiac, and digestive health programs formerly unavailable in the community, and also managed relationships with a hospital taxing district. During his early years at AdventHealth, Tol served as Chief Operating Officer of AdventHealth Memorial from 2000 – 2006. In this role, he led the operations of three hospitals and a large medical group and shepherded the entity into AdventHealth following the 2000 acquisition of the former independent system.Tol holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance) from Walla Walla University and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Loma Linda University.

Kelley Elliott, Vice President of Total Rewards at Delta, leads a team of HR professionals responsible for worldwide compensation, retirement, healthcare and mobility programs at Delta Air Lines. Kelley joined Delta in 2018 with responsibility for global compensation and retirement programs and has since expanded her role to include healthcare benefits for Delta’s 80,000 global employees. She is currently leading an effort to transform Delta’s U.S. healthcare benefits. Prior to joining Delta, Kelley held a similar total rewards leadership position at UPS and consulted with Willis Towers Watson for 15+ years with a focus on benefits. Kelley lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband, Mark, and 10-year-old twin boys, Ben and Drew.

For the last 20 years, Jim Huffman has been leading employee benefits functions. Jim started out his career working in health care, for Fallon, holding various roles. From there, he went into health care consulting with Towers Perrin. After a few years in consulting, Jim joined the benefits function at Dell Computer Corporation, and then went on to be the Head of Employee Benefits at Bank of America, supporting about 250,000 employees and retirees. In 2018, Jim joined Fidelity Investments as the Head of Benefits, bringing new benefit programs to the its 50,000 employees and helping the organization manage through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Omar Dawood is a clinician with over 25 years of senior management, medical research and clinical experience, innovating medical devices and digital health products as a seasoned executive. He is the President of Better-Up Care, the pioneer and leading organization that brings hyper-personalized mental fitness and science-backed preventive solutions, including 1:1 and group coaching, to firms globally. From 2019-2021, Omar was the Chief Medical Officer and Head of Sales for Calm, leading B2B employer and health plan sales. He is also a stage 4 cancer survivor. Omar is passionate about helping people around the globe lead healthier, happier lives by building resilience through better sleep and improved mindfulness. Over the past two decades, Omar has held senior executive and senior advisory positions with a spectrum of healthcare companies, including Ginger, Accuray, Kona Medical, AliveCor and Samsung, leading transformative change and disruptive innovation across a number of healthcare segments. He holds a BA in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, an MPH with concentration in cancer epidemiology from Yale University, an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MD from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He went onto residency training in surgery and radiology and a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of California San Francisco. Dawood has been honored as both a Howard Hughes and a National Cancer Institute Research Scholar and was named the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society 2010 Silicon Valley Man of the Year for his leadership of national fundraising efforts supporting cancer research.
