Dr. Sean Kelly is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Sr. VP of Customer Strategy for Healthcare at Imprivata, where he leads the company’s Clinical Workflow team and advises on the clinical practice of healthcare IT security. In addition, Dr. Kelly practices emergency medicine at Beth Israel Lahey Health and is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, part time, at Harvard Medical School. Trained at Harvard College, University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Vanderbilt University, Dr. Kelly is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians.With a passion for bridging the gap between business and medicine, Dr. Kelly is focused on delivering the best patient care possible with technology that works for clinicians, not against them. He is the Chair of the CHIME Opioid Task Force Clinical Advisory Group, a team of health IT leaders committed to leveraging technology to curb the Opioid Crisis, prevent addiction and save lives. The group published the CIO/CMIO Playbook, a practical framework for implementing IT solutions to reduce morbidity and mortality from opioid addiction and overdoses.Dr. Kelly was also the Co-founder of Lifeguard Medical Group in Martha’s Vineyard, a seasonal concierge practice run by emergency physicians. He had served as a visiting professor at the University of Florence in Italy, First Aid physician at Fenway Park, and enjoys doing humanitarian and disaster relief work worldwide.

As senior vice president, he leads more than 1,200 people on the IT infrastructure teams, including data centers; data, voice and video networks; cybersecurity; hospital-based technology support and enterprise applications. He also serves as a member of the Board of ClinicalConnect Health Information Exchange, which he led as president for more than nine years. In 2015, the Pittsburgh Technology Council and Greater Pittsburgh CIO Group named him Pittsburgh CIO of the year. He’s focused on emphasizing digital strategy, innovation, cybersecurity, and technology integration across the enterprise.Over his tenure, he gained additional leadership responsibilities, including supply chain management, clinical engineering, the project management office, and the performance improvement department. He supports enterprise business operations, strategic goals, oversees over $1 Billion in budget responsibility, and all health system integrated corporate initiatives to achieve more effective and cost-beneficial enterprise-wide operations.He has more than 25 years of health care and technology experience. Before joining Health First, Walders served as the Chief Technology Officer, Federal Health for VMware, a publicly-traded Fortune 50 Company. His prior roles were a subset of a 22-year career in the US Navy. During his miliary service, he served as Chief Digital & Information Officer for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center; Chief Digital & Information Officer for the Navy’s 1,000 bed Hospital Ship (USNS Comfort); Chief Digital & Information Officer for US Naval Hospital Rota, Spain, and numerous global assignments in healthcare and as a submarine nuclear engineer.William received his MBA/MHA from the University of Florida, his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland and is pursuing his Doctor of Digital Health from The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
