Angela A. Shippy, MD, MHA, FACP, FHM is Amazon Web Services’ Senior Physician Executive and Clinical Innovation Lead, Healthcare. In this role, Dr. Shippy brings clinical and operational leadership experience and perspective to advancing cloud technology adoption to support, enable, and activate patients and providers. Previously, Dr. Shippy served as Senior Vice President, Chief Medical & Quality Officer at Memorial Hermann Health System where she had system-wide oversight for accreditation, clinical quality, employee and patient safety, lab, and pharmacy. Prior to Memorial Hermann, Dr. Shippy served as Chief Medical Officer of HCA’s Gulf Coast Division and as Vice President of Medical Affairs at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center where she practiced as a hospitalist. She earned a B.S. in biology from Texas A&M University and an M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where she also completed her residency in internal medicine. Dr. Shippy has served on local, state, and national councils and committees and held volunteer faculty positions at Baylor College of Medicine, UT Health-Houston, and The Institute of Healthcare Improvement. She currently serves as a member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Foundation Board and on advisory committees for Women and Gender Studies at the University of Houston and The Houston Area Women’s Center.

Dave leads AWS’s US Government, Nonprofit and Healthcare businesses. He and his teams help Governments, Non-governmental Organizations, Nonprofits, and Healthcare providers realize the potential of technology to transform their organizations and fulfill their missions. In this role, he works closely with national security clients, civilian and defense agencies, nonprofits and hospital systems on their journey to cloud technology. Dave is an experienced executive and impactful leader in the information technology sector and for more than 20 years, he has passionately focused on the intersection of technology and organizational change.Prior to joining AWS, Dave worked for Apple Inc. for 12 years and led the teams that helped government adopt innovative mobile technologies. Under his leadership, Apple’s government business grew nearly 300% in a 4-year period. As head of the U.S. public sector, he played a key role in the introduction and adoption of mobile apps and app stores in federal and state and local governments. Before joining Apple, Dave worked for Monster.com and helped lead its customer facing teams which played a key role in bringing automation and innovation to federal hiring and recruiting platforms.In addition to his executive career, Dave co-founded Sulla Technology Group. At Sulla, as co-founder and COO, he built a successful data center services company focused on higher education clients and state and local governments. Before founding Sulla, Dave started Empire Capital Management to focus on the investment needs of mid-market institutional clients. Dave serves on the Fairview Health Services Board of Directors and the Innovation and Research Board for Children’s National Medical Center. He also serves as the Chair of the Space and Procurement Council for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in International Economics from Texas Tech University. He and his wife, Izumi, have twin daughters and currently reside in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, VA.
